How could Captain Sullenberger have performed a virtually perfect crash landing of U.S. Airlines flight 1549 in the Hudson River in New York in January 2009? Amid all the distractions he was able to focus on the one task at hand. By the time the plane hit the water within the last few minutes he had likely had to screen out screaming passengers, flight tower information, co-pilot input, dash board lights flashing, and loud cockpit auditor warnings.
Your day may not be as dramatic as that but you still have to screen out and focus on daily decisions concerning such things as child discipline, split second driving decisions, financial choices, and interactions with people on a business or personal level.
