Description
Science continues to research and find evidence of the impact that positive or negative thinking has on brain and our stress level. Living in an imperfect world in an imperfect body with an imperfect mind it is easy to become negative. In addition it seems like much of the news centers on the negative and pessimistic.
Having used this technique in counseling for many years I have found that most individuals find it more difficult to speak three minutes about the positive than three minutes about the negative. However when asked how a person feels when they have done three minutes of each I almost always hear that a person feels worse speaking only the negative for three minutes. So why do we do it? It takes effort to improve our attitude and see the glass half full in a negative world, but it is sure worth it! Anything worth accomplishing requires effort. But once you have what you wanted so badly, such as a sports championship, better marriage, or improved doctor’s report it is worth the effort. Why would we think our thoughts and conversations would be different? They too will be worth the effort to develop a more positive attitude and outlook on life.
